MCA – T GOVERNING BOARD VISIT TUNDUMA – SUMBAWANGA ROAD (224KM) 11TH FEBRUARY, 2015

On 11th February, 2015 the MCA-T Governing Board visited the completed 224Km Tunduma - Sumbawanga road. The board was led by Chairman Dr. Servacius Likwelile together with MCA-T CEO Mr. Bernard S. Mchomvu. Before starting the site visit the board had a short meeting with Hon. Abbas Kandoro Mbeya Regiona Commissioner. The RC appreciated the road and the support from the American People, he said the road is really contributing much to the economy of the region

 

The route started from Tunduma – Ikana which covers 63.7Km in Mbeya region. In this section the Governing Board Members (GBM) was happy to see a nice and well-constructed road and a bus stand that was constructed to provide enough space for buses to park.

The team also appreciated phase two of the road Ikana – Laela, this also road covers 44Km in Mbeya region and 20.2Km in Rukwa Region. In this area apart from the road works MCA-T constructed two Police Posts, Tunko and Laela Police Posts. They also inspected aventeddrift connecting to hospital and a culvert to Uchile Secondary school. These bridges were constructed to serve the lives of the sick people especially pregnant women and children who were crossing the river from Laela side to reach the services across the river.

The Board members finalised the route by visiting the last part of the road, Laela – Sumbawanga road (95.3Km) and praise the well and technically constructed Kaengesa Bridge, it is believed that this is among the highest bridges in the Country.The Chairman of the Board Dr. Likwelile on behalf of the Board congratulated the work done and appreciated the additional community serves facilities constructed along the road.  Together with this the team has visited the camps building which were used by the Contractors and Engineers, these buildings will now turn into a Technical Institute, a branch of Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology. 

After completion of the road site visit, the MCA-T Governing Board utilise this opportunity to conduct he 22nd Governing Board meeting at Sumbawanga town on 12th February 2015.

In sumbawanga the Board also met with Ho. Eng. Stella Manyanya, Rukwa regional Commissioner who also delivered her words of thanks to the work done by MCA-T with the support from the people of America. The Rukwa region has benefited much from the project which apart from having a large portion of road, it has a Morden Police Post and two small bridges constructed outside the road as part of social corporation services.
