Inauguration Ceremony: Zanzibar Interconnector Cable

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council  and the MCC Chief Executive Officer Daniel Yohannes inaugurated the 100MW second Zanzibar interconnector on Wednesday 10th April 2013 at the new Mtoni substation in Zanzibar. The President and his host unveiled a plaque at the new substation and thereafter received a technical brief from the ZECO General Manager Mr  Hassan Mbaruk. The ceremony was concluded by a grand event at the Amani stadium where the President and Mr. Yohannes pressed a siren inaugurate the interconnector.  The ceremony was also attended by Former President of Zanzibar Dr Amani Abeid Karume, Union Vice President Dr. Mohaned Bilali, First and second Vice Presidents of Zanzibar, Seif Sharif Hamad  and Dr. Seif Ali respectively and the US  Ambassador Alfonso Lenhardt.
